EBook Marketing Techniques

If you want to increase your income through your selling eBooks keep reading. The five remarkable plans revealed in this article could change your life and your future.

First of all, you have to treat your eBook like any other product or service you want to profit from. This means you need to have a marketing plan. This is an area where many writers fall short and limit their potential income and audience. This marketing plan needs to be all inclusive.

The next thing you need to do is create a web site to promote your eBook. This needs to be a website specific to that eBook. This web site is essential to the success of your eBook as it will work 24/7 to promote your book. This gives potential readers a glimpse of what your book has to offer and a glimpse of you, the author.

The third thing to consider is blogging. This has become a very valuable marketing tool, especially for writers of eBook that are targeted to a specific audience. More writers are logging on to blogs and actively participating in the discussions. This gives readers an opportunity to get to know the writers and the writers gain a reputation of being an authority. This means that their eBooks are more likely to sell.

Similarly, the fourth item is discussion forum which are very much like blogs in that the members are focused upon a specific topic. If your eBook fits that topic then it is in your best interest to join that forum and become a very active member. In essence, go where your audience is, become involved in their activities and get to know your audience.

The fifth and final item is to never under estimate the value of social networking websites. The web sites are excellent places to promote you eBook. You will be joining the ranks of other writers, entrepreneurs and business persons taking advantage of the power of these web sites. People from all walks of life are becoming active on these websites. Make sure that your marketing plan for your targeted ebook includes these social networking websites.

Ebook Typography - Serif Vs Sans Serif Fonts

If you spend some time speaking to e-Book publishers, you will sometimes find yourself talking about very minor details such as what font is best to use when creating an e-Book. In fact, this is a topic that regularly comes up amongst people who are just getting started in the e-Book business. Believe it or not, I've interacted with people who have literally put off the publication of an e-book by several weeks because they go back and forth in their own mind debating whether or not they are using the precise font that is supposedly "required" to be able to sell an e-book on the Internet.

Let's take a moment to dispel a few myths. First of all, the overwhelming majority of fonts are easily readable if they are used to create an e-book. Now, not all fonts are as easy to read as others. So-called "serif" fonts have characteristics that some people believe make them a little bit easier to read than "sans serif" fonts. Listen -- if you are somebody who is being held up by this type of debate, simply go with what you believe is easiest to read.

To the extent that you're still confused as to whether or not you're using the right font, present some examples to friends of yours. Ask them to look at the different fonts, and to tell you which one is easiest for them to read. This will quickly help you figure out which one you should use. Here's the bottom line: picking a font to use with your e-book should not become a source of distraction for you.

1.) Article Marketing- So you've written an eBook, why would you want to write articles about your eBook? Because marketing articles submitted to various directories can help spread the word about your eBook and direct people to purchase the book. Marketing articles help establish your expertise on a subject, the readers who find your marketing articles that provide good information will be more likely to pay for your eBook to learn more from you.

2.) Social Networking- So you may not be a Twitter addict or a Facebook fan, but you can utilize social networking to share the information about your eBook. All you have to do is share the link or basic information with your group of friends, they will then pass it on to all of their friends, and your eBook will end up in front of hundreds and thousands of people who are all potential readers.

3.) Blogging- If you establish a blog on your niche topic, and provide lots of informative blog posts, helpful links and interaction with your readers this is the ideal place to present your eBook. Your readers already know what they can expect from you and will be more likely to purchase your eBook than if they have no clue who you are. A blog is a continuous marketing tool for your writing.

These three simple things can provide you with free advertising, word of mouth and easily share-able methods of promoting your eBook. Advertising your eBook is going to play a large part in the success of the eBook and will provide you with future customers as well. Providing answers to a problem, needed information and helpful solutions through your blog, eBook and marketing articles as well as sharing information through social networking are all ways to establish your expertise and build your reputation as a writer and eBook author.

EBook Writing - Writing An EBook For Profit

Today, everyone wants to write an eBook, but to break through the eBook market your Book needs to really stand out from the rest. The following ideas may be just the ticket to getting your eBook to stand out from the crowd and putting you on the way to a successful and profitable career as an eBook author!

The first and some would say most important thing to consider when beginning your career as an eBook writer is to figure out your area or areas of expertise. If you have experience or abundant knowledge in a particular area, it will make your writing much stronger and go much further to establish your reputation as an authority on the subject.

The second and perhaps just as important thing to take into consideration when beginning your career as an eBook writer is to be sure that you write about things you enjoy. If you have no interest in your topic, that lack of interest will reappear in your work and be glaringly apparent to your readers. Nothing looses a reader's interest faster than a book that is as painful to read as it was to write.

The third thing to remember and some would consider obvious when writing an eBook is to have a plan in place for the editing and revision of your work. You are not done when you complete your first draft and run it through a spell check program. If you want to have a great manuscript that will hold your reader's attention, it will take at least two or three rewrites. You might even consider working with a professional to help you with the editing and proof reading process. Nothing frustrates a reader more than bad grammar, misspelled words and slapdash writing.

The fourth and final consideration when considering writing your eBooks is the manner in which it will be marketed. You want to be able to sell what you write, or that is generally the accepted idea behind writing an eBook and the best way to get it out there for people to read. Think about how you will get your book out there for potential readers and plan your marketing strategy carefully. Successfully placed eBooks typically reach more readers and generate more positive income and buzz.

Keep these things in mind, and your eBook writing can be not only profitable, building a strong reader base and market share. It can also be enjoyable, and lead to a long career as an eBook author. Have Fun!

How to Write an Ebook Using the Creative Writing Process So That You Can Write an Ebook That Sells

Writing your eBook may require that you stretch yourself in new ways so that you tap into the creative juices that will make your writing better than you ever imagined. This can be done in a variety of ways, so you must experiment to see what will work the best for you. Here are just a few of the exercises I use with my students when they are writing an eBook.

Allow yourself to draw with a pen or colored pencils. You can draw pictures or just doodle, as long as you are thinking about your topic as you draw. This connects the part of your brain that thinks differently with the other part that you typically rely on. This exercise will also make you think about your topic in a new and different way.
Think about a song from a favorite television show, movie, or singer that you enjoy listening to. Hum the tune to the song out loud for several minutes. Then begin to write your own words to this song, using the subject matter of your eBook. This can be great fun and will certainly lead to more ideas about what to write about. If nothing else, you will see your material in a different light and from a new perspective.
Make a list of words and phrases that come to mind when you think about your topic. As you keep writing you will find that you are coming up with new ideas to include in your book. This will also be good when you are doing a search for keywords on your topic.

Becoming creative in your eBook writing process will make the writing more enjoyable and more productive.

eBook Writing, My Way

Hello everyone. How is everyone today? I hope all is well in your world. As of lately I have been doing a lot of research on eBook writing which can be used to create huge profits for you if you do all your homework and produce something of value or it can just bring readers to your page if that is what your looking for. So today I am going to lay down some of the basics of eBook writing.

Like any Book, an interesting cover will attract the eye of people. This includes the title of the Book being very important. But it isn't the cover that keeps them. Most people will sit and read a few paragraphs to see if it is either exciting, informative or interesting enough for them to buy the book. If a reader is reading the book and begins to skip lines (You know what I mean) like they are on line two of a paragraph and skip to the next paragraph before finishing the first paragraph, chances are that they don't like what they are reading. They will also, sometimes scan through the indexed content or chapters to see if they find something that they can relate to or are interested in.

Well eBook writing is the same with the exception that eBook covers are not what usually catches the readers attention it is the Title of the eBook. Yes, the cover or graphic you have to display your eBook may attract the reader, but not in most cases.

eBooks are not just to produce a new product for launch like an online program to help people make money online with certain techniques, it can be a FREE eBook giveaway to promote a niche or a product you have a campaign about.

As I see it there are several rules to writing eBooks and I will write about each one that seem important to me. This is not for everyone, it is my opinion and I don't guarantee any results from following my tactics of writing eBooks. This is just to give people a basic understanding of eBook writing (BTW, these are also good tips for Article writing without affiliate links. Most article submission sites don't like affiliate links.) So with that said, here we go:

1. SUBJECT:

Now this is a place where most people get stuck. And of course if your not the writing type and your doing this for a niche (Product your promoting or affiliate marketing) then it can be a task looked upon as very difficult. But remember, if your writing an eBook (Electronic Book) then this means that you have access to a computer and Internet. So in turn, it becomes a little easier. You have the world right at your finger tips to do all the research you need. For me this is the most difficult and boring part...lol. writing about it is easy. A few suggestions: First, what are the reasons for this eBook: Profits, Enjoyment, Teaching. Whatever it may be figure this out first. If this doesn't help make a list of things you enjoy e.g. Hobbies, Sports, Trades, etc. One other thing you can do is make a list of things you know well and can do for hours or talk about for hours because basically, a eBook is just your words in a computer generated book. So the more you know, the more you like the subject, or the more you believe in the product or subject the better the book will turn out and the easier it is to produce and sell.

2. RESEARCH:

This part takes the longest and can be very time consuming, but with proper keyword searches it can go pretty fast. Then there's the matter of compiling the information into a effective or attractive format to your readers. Now if your an expert on the subject, all the better. This will make the task of research much easier.

For Profit -

If your writing for profit, One thing I do recommend when doing your research, if at all possible (unless it's a completely new subject or type of product), get some content in your eBook that talks about how good the product/s or subject/s your talking about is. Some testimonials from other authors, teachers, etc. that will justify your words of wisdom or your products. Now if your doing this eBook for a certain niche (Affiliate Product/s) and don't know to much about the product/s, find everything you can to help you gain knowledge of the product/s (Affiliate Campaigns). This will help you for one, know if the product/s is any good, two, familiarize you with the product/s and three, give you writing material to promote the product/s. Research for a new product like an eBook for teaching people how to do something and it's for profit, your research will be different. You must research your competitors sites, one, to help you know your competition and who they are and their techniques (If you can find the information or may already have purchased it), two, to be able to explain with conviction how your product or eBook is better (In Detail if possible, comparisons) and three, build your Authority status by referring to several topics about your product in detail thus showing your readers and potential consumers you know what your talking about.

For Exposure -

This is the FREE eBook I mentioned earlier. This can either be a eBook to get people to buy your product/s (Promoted Affiliate Product/s) or interest them in a New product/s launch coming soon. It is also generally used on an opt-in page to create a email mailing list for further advertisements. Follow the steps above for this eBook as well.

For Pleasure -

This is easy. You don't expect to make money in most cases and your basically writing about stuff you like whether it is teaching or a activity. Again, do some research on the subject as to add more content for your readers to have fun reading about what you like e.g. Hiking: Talk about all the places you have hiked and do some research on places you would like to go and hike so the reader will be interested in coming back to read more upon your next entry. Talk about some funny or embarrassing moments for laughs and stuff like this.

3. TITLE:

This is the most important part of the eBook. After you have chosen your subject and have done all your research you must then come up with a catchy or exciting title. A dull or boring title will have people just pass right by your eBook without a second glance. It is the second glance that draws them in. They see the title and then, BAMM, they have to look again. And now they want to know more about it. So really put a lot of effort into this part, because you only get one shot with each person on first glance. Of course if you spam the airwaves about your eBook and they see lots of articles about it they may come back, but the best shot you have is the first one, remember, First Impressions.

4. AUDIENCE:

Now depending on the subject or product your writing about this will make a difference in your writing. If you go to a comedy club, you are expecting good comedians, right. So you are going their for entertainment and hopefully to get a good laugh. Same when writing your eBook, you must calculate who your targeted audience will be, if any e.g. youth, elders, sports, etc. In some cases you can leave it as targeted to the general public but not recommend. A more targeted audience will generate more income for you if this is what your eBook is about.

5. STRUCTURE:

Now you can begin to build your structure of your book. You have the research, title and audience focus. Now it's time to fill the body of the eBook. The way you structure your book will either captivate your readers or put them to sleep and we don't want them sleeping half way through your ebook. Again there are a few different ways to structure your eBook.

For Profit or Exposure-

Promoting a product/s, it is necessary to keep them excited all the way through. Also, make sure to explain everything your talking about in simple, easy to understand words. Unless this is a High Tech eBook, complicated and big words are not necessary, the simpler the better (But not childish).

1. The Opening Statements or Product/Subject:

Be specific and very welcoming to your audience. Make them feel like you appreciated them and get them excited real quick. Give some details about yourself and some explanation about the Product/Subject before the pitch.

2. Your opinion about the Subject/s or Product/s:

This is where you give your expertise on what it is that you are writing about and testimonials to reinforce that structure. This is also where you can do some lite pitching about the Product/s or subject/s. Make sure you keep the excitement levels high here to draw them to the bottom of the page if they don't hop on in the first lite pitch you spring on them.

3. Pictures:

It is also good to use some good visuals within your eBook to help your readers relate to your Product/s or Subject/s a little better. You can include pictures of your techniques, profits, software features and much more. I do recommend this as it adds to the professionalism of the eBook. A nice looking header at the top of your first page would be great as well.

4. Readable Content:

Make sure that you use a nice font like Verdana or Tahoma about 10 to 12 point for easy reading. It is important that the text is easy to read. This is for Profit, Exposure or Pleasure writing.

5. Helpfulness:

Make sure that your writings give the readers something that is helpful to them. If you help people you gain respect. Helpful tips are a great thing, it builds rapport with your readers. It also is good (If applicable) to make sure that if your book is about helping people that you recognize what their problems could be (According to the Topic) and you and address them in full detail. It will help you in the future if you ever recommend anything else or launch your own product someday, you will have a loyal audience to pitch to.

6. Legal Stuff:

Make sure that you let people know that you make no guarantees that the product creates success, you know the legal stuff. Everyone does things different, even if you let them know that following the program or product step by step will make them money, there are always situations that could and will arise that you have no control over and making 100% guarantees is a bit dangerous.

7. Affiliate Links:

If your doing this to sell Affiliate products, make sure you leave room to put your ads within your body content. Example. Your product is strategies and techniques for making money online. Leave a spot either for a text link, opt-in area that leads to the sale page or picture link for your products. You can also put other products to sell within the text body as well if you have several products. Make sure they are related in some way to each other.

8. Thank You:

Finish up with a thank you area expressing your thanks for them taking their time to download your eBook, purchase your eBook or your product/s. This is also a good place to show a few more of the products you have if any that you may not have shown through the other parts of the eBook.

For Pleasure -

1. You can follow the same structure, just leave out all the affiliate marketing talk. 2. Basically and intro of yourself, The body of your story and a ending with a Thank You to your readers. It really depends on what your doing with your eBook.

6. PROMOTION:

Go out and promote your eBook where you can, build a Pitch Page/Landing Page and use the same techniques you used in your eBook to keep the excitement going all through the page with testimonials, visuals, profits you made (If applicable) and an opt-in area if this is for a FREE eBook. Make some article write-ups, a Blog or Website or articles for further information about yourself, your eBook and other product/s you may be promoting. And now you can call yourself a genuine Author.

I know I may have left out something. But these are the most important things I came up with right at the moment. As I learn so will you (If you read my articles), this I can promise. I do research everyday in order to improve myself which will improve my families life. That is my goal, to improve my families present day living and future living. And if I help people along the way, thats just fine with me. Peace and GOD speed and good luck in all your endeavors.

Writing An eBook - Tips On How To Develop A Plan To Write And Sell An eBook Based On Your Niche

You can write your eBook in just a few short weeks if you do some research and follow a plan. There are many ways to get started, but if you want to complete your eBook and be able to sell it to others, map out a plan to make sure it gets completed in a reasonable amount of time. Here are some ideas to get you started on the road to becoming an author.

Determine exactly what your eBook will be about. You should be helping a specific group of people to solve a problem that is of great importance to them. People are more interested in relieving their pain than they are in increasing their pleasure. This is just human nature.
Make an outline that includes all of the key points you want to discuss in your eBook. Spend as much time as you need in preparing this outline because it will be the backbone of your writing.
Divide your outline and topics into seven or eight chapters that flow in a logical sequence. Add more points to each chapter and begin writing. You can write your eBook in any order that makes sense to you; just make sure the final order will make sense to your readers.
When you finish writing, begin submitting articles to the article directories based on your eBook. This will enable you to build a list of people who may be interested in purchasing your eBook.

Start a blog on your topic while you are still writing. This will get a conversation going between you and your readers so that you will attract many people who are hungry for your information.

eBook Creation Strategies - Create the Table of Contents First

One of the most effective ways to create an eBook is to start by creating the table of contents first. This will make it easier for you to create the eBook because you will know what you need to talk about.

Creating a table of contents before anything else will help you stay focused on what you have to do in sequence. In other words, you will be more systematic in writing your book.

The table of contents will also serve as your guide in achieving your goal on a day-to-day basis. You can use this as reference to what should be accomplished on this and that day. For instance, you can do the introduction and foreword in a particular time frame. For each day, you can do at least two to three sets if you want to finish your book faster.

This will give a sequence to things you should do and is most effective in creating more content to your book. Making the table of contents first will keep you focused and will reduce the probability of skipping on topics.

When you are doing your book continuously, there are times that you suddenly want to stop in the middle of what you are doing and skip on to another one. While this is all for creating your book, you might be having difficulty when you go back to what you have been doing in the first place. You might find that there are certain items that you have forgotten to finish.

The list in the table of contents will provide a work sequence that will get you to finish your book as scheduled.

Kindle 2 - Why Must You Buy a Kindle Ebook Reader?

To be sure, the Kindle eBook reader leaves little doubt by now that a reading revolution is in the making. It has evidently become a current vogue in the white-collared circles. Everyone who has any reason at all to carry one will. For certain groups even, it's an attire to impress or status to flaunt. Whether it's for the pomp or purpose, or both, this gadget is hot.

You don't have to be an avid reader to buy Kindle electronic Book reader but if you are, great! That's what it's all about to start with. Basically the Kindle is a super sheet of electronic paper encased in a hi-tech frame which is equipped with state-of-the-art smartness and features. In much the same way that the mobile phone is cellular, the Kindle is a cellular eBook reader connected to full telecom amenities from anywhere in the country.

The original Kindle wasn't much in appearance to many and if you didn't like the jarring look, well, Amazon listened. Check out the sleek and trim Kindle 2, complete with superb ergonomics this time around for good measure. Now, there's really some resemblance to what people like to refer it as - the iPod of books. Now, let not the good looks overshadow its functional prowess.

The Kindle may be eye-catching to the admiring onlookers but to the readers themselves, it actually disappears elegantly into the author's world, a feature Amazon greatly prides their superstar product on. The top design objective was to make the reader 'get lost in the reading, not the technology'. Yet, it would be unjust to simply bypass its technology marvel without a mention.

The main distinction of the Kindle electronic book reader from its peers, or rivals if you may, lies in its Whispernet - a wireless service by which contents are transacted and also where Whispersync operates for smart cross-device synchronization. The connectivity is through 3G network and is included when you buy Kindle eBook reader so there's no bill on your part and unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.

Some say that at the end of the day, the Kindle 2 is just a book but the great thing about this book is that it can be any book you wish anytime, anywhere, out of about 275,000 of them plus magazines and newspapers. Amazon publicly stated that it's their aim to avail any book that's ever printed to all Kindles in the country under 60 seconds. That's quite an audacious goal but they have been bold before, and succeeded.

E-Book - Advantages and Disadvantages

E-Book is the short form of Electronic Book. It is generally read on personal computers. Some users also use it on their cell phones, rather, smart phones.  It is mainly meant for readers who surf online and want to get any information instantly on the web. These readers are also called e-readers.

Earlier E-Books were written for a specific audience and were confined only to a few subjects. With the expansion of the World Wide Web and its density among the users, they have emerged as the main source of knowledge and answers to a lot of questions. E-books are generally available in PDF formats which are easily compatible with all machines around the globe.

Just like we used to have book publishers in the real world, we now have E-book publishers in World Wide Web.  Many authors want to have an E-book version of their books to be published while some are against it. One of them is J. K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series. She has made her point clear on the fact that she is not going to publish the electronic version of her Harry Potter series.

E-books have a very broad base and a huge target audience. This is why the E-book business is increasing at a very rapid pace. One can easily find most of the E-books, if available on the internet via Google, a commonly used search engine, which has most the answers to most the questions.

E-books have their own advantage because of which they have gained so much of popularity. First and foremost, they save time. It saves us from going to a shop, purchasing a book or wasting time on home delivery. Overall, this is a time consuming process. And since time is a very important factor in today`s world, E-books provide instant solution to our questions. Moreover, some of them cost us an amount where as there are millions of E-books on the internet which are available for free. Which, we cannot get in the real world so easily.

We can easily search the topic we want to know about on the internet and then easily get numerous E-books on similar topics. They are now also available in mobile phones, as these devices have made the use e-books broader.  A user can get any information via E-books from his office directly on his/her mobile phone. This has brought a revolution in the world of internet and communication.

Just like a coin has two sides, E-books too have certain disadvantages. They require a personal computer or a mobile phone to order be used. Its data can be lost if its file format is not supported or changed in the reader`s computer.

Piracy is yet another aspect which has to be thought of while talking about E-books. E-books often encourage piracy and ultimately reduce the profits of the original book publisher. This is probably one of the reasons why the author of the Harry Potter series was not in favor of printing E-books of the same.

There are lots of E-book clubs and websites that can be found on the internet. These clubs and websites cater to almost all the different topics in the world starting from sports, politics, entertainment, history, cookery, psychology and several other topics which one can think of.

2 Tips That Can Turbo Charge the EBook Creation Process

Writing an EBook can be a lengthy process. Many people underestimate the amount of time it takes to create an interesting, engaging, and informative EBook. However, if you use one of the following tips, you can greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to create your EBook, and as a result, be able to make more EBooks and rake in the dough!

Tip 1: Interview someone!

You may want to write about a topic you don't know a lot about. Instead of doing hours of research and doing all of the writing yourself, try interviewing someone who knows a lot about the topic. This is a fun and entertaining way to get the information you need.

Additionally, you could then make a transcript of the interview, and use that transcript as the text of your eBook. You will have an engaging article people will want to read, with little effort on your part!

Tip 2: Use voice-dictating software!

Typing can be a laborious process. After an hour or two, the muscles in your hand and wrist start to hurt. Not to mention the fact that if you use the hunt-and-peck technique, typing will take you a very long time. When you write an EBook, typing is a big part of your life.

Wouldn't it be great, then, if there was a way to write words without typing? Well, now there is! There are many special software programs available which will let you dictate words - that is, speak the words and have them typed by the computer. With a little practice, this can save you a lot of time!

Try one or both of these tips, and you will turbo charge the Ebook creation process!

Create Your Own eBook

Step 1 - Choose your title.
Choosing your new eBook's title is absolutely critical to its success. "Yet another marketing bible" is not going to sell it to potential readers, it needs to be something that fits in with your subject, your readership and spells out to potential buyers whey they should choose you!

Step 2 - Write your eBook
Open up Word and start typing! Write your eBook and then you are done?

Not quite! Once it is written proof read it a few times and get friends and family to also proof read it for you. You want it to be a quality book. A few suitable pictures and diagrams make it easier to read and give you more of a reputation. This might be handy if you are writing several books!

Finally, convert it to PDF format ready for distribution.

Step 3 - Create a front cover!
Why create a cover for an eBook? Well, you will need it on your website and it is something else to help finish off the appearance of the book when you pop the cover onto page 1.

Don't stop at a cover, a nice banner for the top of the website that matches and then make a mock-up of a book with the cover.

Step 4 - Create a website to sell it
You might be going to use ClickBank to promote it, but you still need a sales page on a website. But, this is easy enough to do. Get some hosting and install WordPress, or use a simple website builder tool.

A single page website is fine, but you can use more marketing tricks if you are able to build a few extra pages into the website.

Step 5 - Promote your eBook with affiliates
Sign up to ClickBank, or any other service that you prefer, load your hard work, set your prices, give a description and then you have the potential of a team of affiliates to sell for you, whilst you get on with other work.

This is the first step in which the title really does matter. A boring title will not attract affiliates, which means a smaller sales team.

Step 6 - Promote your eBook yourself
Do not just rely on affiliates to promote your work. Remember that your own sales are free of affiliate commissions for a start and also if affiliates see your site really does work the sales magic, they are more likely to join in.

eBook Starter

eBook Starter is a compiler for creating EXE format eBooks for use on Microsoft Windows. The eBook Starter program itself is compatible with the Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, NT, XP and Vista operating systems.

The main selling point of the program is that it is an "all in one" solution to eBook authoring. What they mean by this is that unlike some other compilers, eBook Starter includes a built-in text editor for creating content, as well as compiler that will convert the content in a finished eBook. This is a significant difference from some other compilers which simply convert HTML files that the user supplies (but must create in another program such as a word processor or HTML editor) into an eBook.

The built-in editor does seem to include quite a lot of capabilities including paragraph alignment options, formatting (bold, underline, italic, etc.), and the option to insert images (including JPEGs, GIFs, etc.). There are of course advantages and disadvantages to having a built-in editor, novices for example may well prefer the ease of an "all in one" solution, but it's possible that some more experienced authors, who might already have a favorite editor, might well prefer to stick to it.

The eBook Starter program also comes with a number of templates that are, for the most part, designed to look like open books or binder pages. If you don't like these standard templates, there is also option to create your own template. Other features in the program include security features, a range of customization features, and a rebranding capability (so that you can provide the capability for affiliates or resellers can insert their own links into your eBooks).

How to Sell an EBook

Just as "location, location, location" is important to setting up a brick and mortar shop on the street, "traffic, traffic, traffic" is important to selling eBooks online. You must have a lot of traffic to sell copies of your eBook. If you don't have traffic, you won't have sales.

Free traffic to your website is a result of search engine optimization. You can save thousands of advertising dollars each month because of search engine optimization. You can imagine how powerful this is when you are selling eBooks. Many authors are selling eBooks right now in their sleep because they made a website with great search engine optimization and are getting a ton of free traffic.

Search engine optimization is all about three things: 1) key phrase selection, 2) key phrase placement, 3) link building. In short, you need to use key phrases on your website that people search for on the internet each month. Knowing what phrases they are searching for is the secret to selling eBooks. Then you must place these key phrases on your website in the right way so they are emphasized. Finally, you must develop links back to your website. These three elements are the recipe for good search engine optimization and having your website appear at the top of search results in Google.

Once you create traffic to your website, you can add Google analytics code to your website to monitor daily activity. These statistics will allow you to see where visitors are coming from, how often they are visiting your site and what they were interested in.

Both Sides of the Story - Ebook Geographic Restrictions

An old topic that still frustrates consumers, eBook geographic restrictions limit the purchase of certain titles to specific countries. Here is an explanation of geographic restrictions from both sides.

Geographic Restriction: What is it?

Depending on how the eBook contract was written, eBook stores can't sell specific books to customers who live in certain countries. It varies from book to book. When a consumer goes to purchase an ebook, they will see a list of countries that are not allowed or allowed to purchase the book.

Why Would Publishers Place this Limitation?

With the paper book business, rights of books have been sold to different publishers by geographic region. This practice may be outdated when it comes to ebook technology; however, the rules are still in place. If a publisher violates the contract, they will face legal action. Also, sellers must also follow these rules as they could face publishers withdrawing the books from their stock.

Let's Complain to the Publisher

A letter or email of complaint may sound good in this situation; however, it isn't going to help. The biggest problem is that the ebook rights might be held by several different publishers in different countries. The publisher that gives the right to sell the ebook only has the permission to do so in the country or countries noted in the contract.

There is Another Side to this Story

It is frustrating when we have our heart set on buying a book, and then find out that we can't. This is true for European and Australian countries. These restrictions don't really touch the American consumer. It is a hot topic amongst the ereader owner population, but there is another side to this story.

In order to preserve a country's local economy and reflect cultural differences in the market, these restrictions are present. The money made from country-specific international editions help keep an infrastructure that supports local publishing. Local pricing choices and earned profits are the heartbeat of an economy.

American publishers, big-time players in the publishing world can drown smaller countries. This truly can affect a small country's economy. In addition, international tax on ebooks can take its toll on these countries as well.

When restrictions affect our love of reading, it is a sensitive topic, but unfortunately, publishers must abide by the rules. Hopefully in time, these restrictions will be modified to adhere with ebook technology.

3 Tips For Formatting Your New Ebook

New eBook writers often make a mistake. They presume that being able to write an eBook means that they'll be able to publish an eBook.

But it's just not true.

Writing and publishing are different tasks with their own set of rules and knowledge and requirements. Usually the first place this becomes obvious is when our new eBook author tries to format their eBook for sale.

Publishing isn't difficult. But it does require you to have a certain expertise and skill. In this article I'm going to give you 3 tips to help you format your new eBook and prepare it for the rest of the publishing process.

1. Before formatting you absolutely must know how you are going to sell your eBook. Publishing and selling your eBook through your own website gives you the most flexibility in many ways. However publishing it through eBook retailers like Amazon's Kindlestore (eBooks for the Kindle) or Apple's iBookstore (eBooks for the Apple iPad) may increase your potential sales due to their wider reach and established market.

Formatting for your own website gives you the flexibility to modify and format your eBook in the way that is best for yourself. Typically, this implies using an industry standard size book with pretty layouts corresponding to that used in the printed book world. Typically it also allows you to use PDF format which is an industry standard format for reading print materials.

However, the eBook hardware companies all use some variant of MOBI or ePub for their publishing process. These formats allow the reader to control the experience. Size of the page, font size and ultimately the layout can be manipulated. Which highly limits your control of the layout.

2. There are standard sizes for books based on printing costs and paper availability. Those standard sizes have been carried across to eBooks largely because of the rise of on demand printers. For example most pocket books are 4.25 in x 6.87 inches, while US Trade books are 6 x 9 inches. U.S. Trade is the only size that is generally available regardless of the binding.

With a pure eBook this issue disappears. Most eBook retailers (e.g. Amazon Kindle store, and Apple's iBookstore) require a standard typewriter page size of 8.5 by 11 inches.

3. The complexity of formatting an eBook for sale by your own site, Amazon print-on-demand, Lulu print-on-demand, Amazon Kindlestore, Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble's Nook and so on can easily get out of hand. If you do it yourself be sure to create some way of formatting based on a single source and keeping track of what format you need to create. Better still consider using a reformatting company to create and submit to the various eBook retailers.

Writing Your First Christian Ebook

In a previous article that I wrote, "The Art of Christian writing," I talked about how to write from God's inspiration as a Christian writer. When you decide to write a Christian eBook, its kind of content is not going to be vastly different from your other writing works as a Christian writer. You are still a Christian writer who must write from the seat of a God inspired spirit and soul.

There are many excellent secular articles on how to write your first eBook. Some may tell you to do some research and find out what's "hot" or selling on the Internet market and then write about that topic. Hopefully, the topic would be in the same line as your business. Others may tell you to use article writing to promote your website and product(s), without being flagrantly product promotional in your ebook. Still, many people do not follow this good advice; they simply write very poor quality ebooks that are nothing more than pages of promotional material for their products and websites, with no real valuable content information for the reader. While ebooks are an effective tool for marketing an internet business or other businesses, I agree with those who suggest that ebooks should be content-rich and provide valuable information for the reader, even if the ebook is a free, give-away gift to promote a website or business product(s).

As Christian writers, we are not to be driven solely by profit in making our decision about what ebook topic we are to write. I believe that first and foremost, we are really "Ghost" writers for God through His Holy Spirit that dwells within us. So, we are to first pray and ask God to inspire us to write on a topic that He wants us to. You see the amazing thing about being a Christian writer is that when God inspires you to write about a specific topic, rest assured that many people need that information. For example, you may be inspired to write about how to select the best ebook creating software for Christian writers. You may be surprised at the number of Christian writers who are struggling to understand and decide which software to purchase for use in writing and publishing their ebooks. You could be inspired to write about selecting a good website hosting company. You may later discover that with the myriads of website hosting companies available, many Christian writers are overwhelmed with trying to select the company that offers the best and appropriate package for their desired website. God guides Christian writers on what to write and how to write what they write. So, never take this aspect of Christian writing for granted. Once you have a clear vision of the ebook that you are going to write do some research to add to your work.

Once your inspiration is now soaring and you are overflowing with words to pen down, feel free to start writing, using any word processing software. Later, you can always cut and past your writing into an ebook creating software application, or easily covert your document into a simple pdf file. Please note that there are people who write directly into an ebook creator software application. Personally, I prefer to write and store my initial ebook content in a word processing application and then transfer such content, as needed, when creating an actual ebook. In the case of an ebook pdf format, all you would need to do is simply distill a word processing document into a pdf file format.

Below is a clear, writing approach that I suggest that you take as you embark on writing your first Christian ebook writing project:

1. First, you must ask some critical questions. Who is your target audience? Is it just Christians or everyone? If it is everyone, then you need to decide how to present the Biblical information, in a manner that many will receive it. In short, you would need to write what I call, "crossover" Christian writing. This is the kind of writing that appeals to both Christians and non-Christians, because it contains palatable universal truths that all humans can relate to. For example, "Understanding your purpose in life," "Christian strategies for dealing with daily stress," etc. But remember, you have to write what God has inspired you to write.

2. Write down an outline of the Christian topic you have decided to write about based on a Biblical theme. Decide whether you plan to write a short Christian ebook or a full-blown book length. I suggest that depending on what the Christian ebook is meant to accomplish, you should then make the decision about the length. For example, if the Christian ebook is for teaching, it could be longer than one designed for evangelism.

3. Organize your Christian ebook outline into logical chapter sections. This could be a by-chapter one-sentence synopsis of what each chapter of your ebook will be about. This is a kind of chapter-by-chapter synopsis.

4. Start with an introduction. Why are you writing about this specific topic? Are there existing problems that individuals are facing, either within the Christian community, or the world as whole, and that you need to address in your writing? Also, be ready to offer Bible-focused approaches or solutions to tackle the problems identified, but avoid coming across as being judgmental.

5. What do you hope to achieve with your Christian writing, specifically, your ebook? Is a teaching, preaching or an evangelism tool? Is it motivational or inspirational writing? What is your target gender and age group, etc.? Is your ebook for women or men, youth or children? Remember that you are targeting sub groups from within a general pool of Christian readers and non-Christian readers, and perhaps, new individuals who recently have become inspired to read ebooks and books in general.

6. Now, center on your main writing focus, which is the primary core of your Christian ebook. Write from your heart. Write as though you are sitting with someone you really care about and whose interest you have at heart. So, pour out in your writing, the inspirational words that God has given you. Tackle the issue of your writing focus with powerful words of God and deliver in writing an electrifying message, offering short and long-term Bible-based approaches to solving the problems. Don't worry about editing your writing for now. Just write. You'll focus on the editing aspect later.

7. Make sure that as you write on the main focus, that is the core of your writing, you clearly identify specific issues, discuss them and provide solutions or guidance based on God's Holy Word. Don't come across as superficial in your writing, or as having little or no expert knowledge on the topic that you are writing about.

8. Write simply, clearly and concisely. As much as possible, please bullet your points and keep them straightforward and plain. Remember that when people are seeking information, the last thing they would want is a long, convoluting prose that is hard to decipher what the point is.

9. As much as possible try to use specific and realistic examples to illustrate your points.

10. Avoid using generalizations, as this may turn off some people.

11. If you are writing a "crossover" Christian ebook, don't sound too preachy or you may loose your audience. Instead, present and illustrate God's Holy Word with examples of real life scenarios that your audience can relate to. For example, you can illustrate how a mountain climber stranded on a Swiss snow mountain prayed for a miracle and got one; a rescue helicopter that had flown across several times and didn't spot him, suddenly did after he prayed.

12. Write your conclusion or summary. This should be brief and concise and should not be a repetition of what you have already stated; rather you can ask a question about the Christian topic that you are writing about. Something for your reader to think about, or perhaps, a hook that would make then eager to read your next Christian ebook.

13. Now, edit and polish your ebook content that is still in a word processing format, and get it ready to be produced or created, that is, for you to cut and paste your writing into the ebook format of your choice. There are many excellent articles on different ebook formats and ebook cover creator software. Shortly, I will be adding a new article, "Christian Writers Choice of Ebook Format."

Bear in mind that your first Christian ebook could become the beginning of a great Christian ministry for you. Your first Christian ebook could be the beginning of tons of ebooks that you will be writing, a Christian ebook webstore or a teaching, preaching and evangelism ministry that could touch the lives of millions around the world. Remember the popular adage that goes, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." So, gear up, take the first step, and start writing your first Christian ebook.

How to Market Your Self-Published eBook

One of the questions I get from writers who have never written an eBook for the sole purpose of self-publishing is, "How would you promote a self-published eBook? Where would you even begin?"

Many writers balk at even attempting to play publisher, but if they only knew that it's not as hard as they think it is, plus they keep to keep all the profits, I feel that more people would realize that self-publishing ebooks is not only a profitable venture, but they are really simple to promote as long as you take a no-nonsense guerilla approach to marketing.

As long as you have a market, and have a quality eBook that is free of errors, your eBook can become a success, thus give you that added income. But, the great thing is, you won't be sharing the profits with anyone. There is no overhead except for website expenses, which you should already have.

I have successfully promoted several eBooks for myself and for my writing group, getting those eBooks into the #1 position in the search engines.

How?

That's where your guerilla marketing plan comes in.

Here are a few simple ways I have used to promote my eBooks and get them to the top of the search engines:

1) Using key search words throughout my selling page and on every single piece of promotional literature I send out.

2) Using free press release sites frequently, keeping in mind to use those key search words not only in the title, but also throughout the release.

3) Using free article banks as vehicles to get my selling page's link on hundreds upon hundreds of websites.

4) Using online storefronts who will list my eBook for free.

5) Using writer's forums and websites who will let you announce your eBook.

6) Using blogs to announce your eBook and promote it.

7) Using others' blogs to set up virtual book tours.

The secret to selling self-published eBooks (or any kind of eBook or print book, for that matter) is to get your link on as many websites as you can. You have to remember, you have an electronic book. You can't go on book signings, so you have to rely on the Internet to get the word out. But, by following those seven examples above, I'll guarantee you'll get the sales you need.

So what if you've done everything above, and your eBook still isn't selling?

Where some authors go wrong is that they fail to remember the most important thing you need in order to sell any kind of books--a market.

No amount of promotion is going to do you any good unless you have an audience who is willing to fork out the money.

Before you even put down that first word, you have to ask yourself these following questions:

Who is going to buy my eBook?

Why is my eBook any different than Joe Blow's eBook on the same subject?

What will my audience gain from my eBook?

Can they already find this information readily on the Internet?

Will my buyers gain something from my eBook, or is it simply to entertain?

Can You Get Into Trouble For Copying an eBook That Already Exists?

In the eBook publishing business, it is of vital importance that you should create a genuine Book. It is a huge no-no to copy an eBook that already exists and this can definitely lead you to trouble.

For every eBook that you make and publish, always bear in mind that you should focus on creating books that are written in your own words. While you can look for resources, you should always ensure that you rephrase it or get only the idea and start creating your own words.

There are always topics that you do not know many ideas about, that is why before writing your eBook, you should make your research on it. Nevertheless, refrain from copying what another eBook of the same topic are saying because you can be penalized and this is serious case in the world of internet.

The main reason for doing a research is to get a better idea about the topic of your eBook. Based on the ideas you get after reading a few books of the same topic, you can create your own unique book. You could always use a different word or set of words when writing, thus it is important to strengthen your dictionary.

If you copy certain words in other books, your eBook cannot be considered as original and you will not be truly satisfied and proud of your achievement. Creating your own unique content not only lets you create an eBook you can call your own, but you will also be proud of the product of your hard work.

How To Write An eBook

As Internet marketing evolves with time and technology, one of the tools in the arsenal of generating online leads, building communities and increasing sales is the use of the eBook. Instantly downloadable content incorporating links, interactive graphics and visuals combined with other online appliances is useful to the person looking for easy to consume material.

When applied as an Internet marketing tool eBooks, or electronic Books, are often used within websites or blogs as a resource of compiled information on the industry or niche the blog is in. Like any other online content, it must be:
Engaging - the title and content should be based on research on your target market.
Relevant - the information should be up-to-date and easily applied or completed.
Easy to Read - writing an eBook is not like traditional books, many of the same rules of writing online apply.

Creation of an informative product, whether electronic or in print, must always utilize marketing strategies to shape and define it. The subject, the positioning of the product, the strategy you use to write the copy requires a keen understanding of what people want, need and are willing to pay for. Before you begin the process of actually writing content for the eBook you must:
identify potential profitable niches and topic
calculate the practicality of developing the document
discover customer hot topics and industry issues, and
understand how those issues and topics are framed in the mind of the reader.

You must also consider whether or not you intent to charge for the eBook. The PDF format may not offer highest perceived value if you are asking for a fee. There are other formats to consider such as Kindle, eReader, Microsoft Reader and MobiPocket.

Once you have identified the market, chosen a topic and a platform, you must consider how long to write the eBook and how to present the information in an easy-to-apply format. An eBook should be a short document on how to solve the problem or issue defined by your initial market research. Whether the document is 5, 20 or 60 pages long, clear instruction that address a real issue will establish you as an authority in your field and keep readers coming to you for additional information. It is the need to solve this problem that generates buyers for your eBook.

Now The Writing Starts
Create an outline so you stay on track and on point in your writing.
Use references with high authority, it adds quality to your content.
Use formatting to keep the content organized and easy to read. Bullet lists, numbered lists, bolds and subheadings help with readability.
Edit your work. Read it aloud, use more than one spell and grammar check.
Edit your work again. It may be helpful to have another person review the eBook.
Publish.

eBook marketing is still an effective method of generating visibility, establishing authority and generating profits. Invest time into selecting a topic that your readers want, provide quality, engaging content that helps your target solve a problem and you will find your daily downloads, and your bank account, increasing.

Affordable Ebook Management Software

Most eBook management software on the internet will offer you a way to search and organize your eBooks and read them, but as an online marketer creating eBooks as products, or using them as promotional materials, you will need more than the ability to organize eBooks, in your ebook management software.

Ideally an online marketer's ebook management software should comprise of

1. Word/Text Processing Software - To create text and design the layout of ebooks with graphics.
2. Compiler - For text to ebook compilation.
3. Converter - For creating ebooks in multiple formats.
4. Security Tools - To prevent illegal copying.
5. Reader - To view created ebooks.
6. Delivery - For delivering ebooks to your targets, either through emails or web downloads.

Generally though, you may not be able to get all of these together as a single ebook management software/service, you are likely to use more than one service and/or software to get what you want exactly. And this makes it possible for you to get a complete ebook management software and service cheaply, since you can breakdown what you will need for your ebook publishing, and actually substitute some of the products you will want to use, with free or low-cost alternatives.

If you have already bought a word processing software like Microsoft Word for yourself, you may use it for typing in your ebook text, a good alternative however, is the free OpenOffice.org Suite, which has a free word processing software you can use too, to create your ebook text and layout.

The most popular formats, are the PDF and EXE formats. You may create PDF ebooks with Adobe Acrobat (expensive), OpenOffice.org Suite (free) and any other third party software you find online, for creating free PDFs. You may not be able to get ebook compilers you can use for free though, to create paid ebook in EXE formats; you will therefore have to pay for EXE compilers.

You can get free ebook converters and readers on the internet too. Readers are usually built for specific formats.

While compiling your ebook, you may also add some security features to it with your compiler. Adding security features to an ebook may not be a requirement for free ebooks but are necessary for your paid products, if you want to avoid piracy. If your ebook compiler does not have security features or only has a few, you may have to use another software or service to secure the ebooks you sell.

You may deliver your books to your targets through emails or web links online. Web links are most commonly used for ebook delivery, you may also use a secure web link for your paid ebook delivery.

All these are either available as desktop software or online ebook management services, you can therefore review different software and services, compare their prices, use free alternatives and perform more searches on the internet, to get better options for your online business.
